Jem Klein is a shakuhachi flute maker. The shakuhachi is a highly refined traditional Japanese bamboo flute which has been used in Zen Buddhism for centuries as a tool for meditation and learning to be fully aware of one’s breath. Today, shakuhachi flutes are used by many for playing Jazz, Classical, Japanese folk music and more.

Jem harvests bamboo growing in the southeastern states. He cures and crafts the bamboo in a traditional manner. Jem apprenticed for nearly two decades with master flute maker Monty Levenson. Jem’s flutes are known worldwide and have been shipped to nearly 30 different countries.
